On June 11th , 2011, three local bands will be joining musical forces and performing a one-night-only TRIPLE CD release Concert at the Key City Theatre in Cranbrook, BC. Each band will bring their unique songs, sounds and rtage presence and release their first Cd’s at a special price. This Epic Night of local talent is fittingly titled Three for the Show.

First up: Heather Gemmell – releasing her CD of all original tunes called “The Road”. Heather has performed at many local venues and was recently the featured musician for a Columbia Basin Trust’s Symposium in Revelstoke, BC. Heather writes music about what she knows to be true, and then wraps it up with a well fitted tune of her own making.
Her music is built around her guitar playing talent and offers up thought-provoking lyrics, catchy riffs, and raw, youthful energy. Her voice is agile and able to go from sweet and lilting to jagged and husky in no time flat. Heather is excited to have her new band, “the Peaks” join her for the show. The Peaks are: Paul Bouchard on drums, Ray Gareau on Bass and Dave Phillipe on Lead guitar and vocals.

Next up is 60 Hertz: as the number in their name suggests, the band has rotated around this old world a few times and have made great use of their time! James Neve (lead vocals and guitar) and Dave Birch (vocals and bass) have been playing music together for over 30 years and their tight weave of vocal and instrumental lines are evidence of this. For a complete charge of 60 Hertz though, more groove is needed; introducing Marty Musser on drums and Rob Young on lead guitar. The original music of 60 Hertz’s (written by James Neve) flows easily from country-feel ballads to folksy rock, but always with an honest, simple and personal touch. 60 Hertz know show to captivate their audience by creating and delivering their original music with an engaging and fresh stage presence, that is a real treat to experience. They will be releasing their long anticipated first CD entitled “Time Stands Still”.

Last in the 1-2-3 punch comes Redgirl: as the name suggests-a redheaded girl, but there’s more! This band has plucked each member from a varying musical pile and formed a zesty, sweet and rootsy four-piece. Anie Hepher strums and sings fearlessly, clear notes either in front or beside the vocals of her real-life and musical partner Michael Hepher and his saucy lead guitar. Sven Heyde (of the Jazz Council) keeps the group in line with his inventive rhythm, while Steve Jones brings up the musical low end with his deft bass notes. The band performs precocious arrangements of some Lynn Miles, Josh Ritter, Ryan Adams songs, as well as Hepher’s original pieces. RedGirl is known to share their music, their humour and their stories on stage with genuine relish. They are pleased to offer their first CD “One Match Fire” , recorded live this winter.
The Evening Concert begins at 7:30 pm and will feature all three bands playing in both sets. During intermission and after the show, there will be plenty of time to meet and mingle with members of all three bands and purchase cds. Tickets for the show are available at the following prices: regular tickets for $15 or deluxe tickets for $45 (which include one copy of each band’s cd.) Tickets are available directly from the Key City Theatre, their website (www.keycitytheatre.com) or by calling 250-426-7006.
